Hello! Running, practicing hot yoga, cooking, Sudoku and sewing are some of life's little pleasures that bring me joy. I'm a wife and a mom of three. In 2011 I began changing my diet, which had a profoundly positive effect on my weight, energy, skin, sleep, athletic performance, and my overall demeanor. The intention was to eat for improved health, but my body naturally released more than ten pounds while eating plenty of delicious and satisfying food. How great is that? I'm not alone. There is a huge community of people just like you and me making these dietary shifts every day and, in doing so, changing their health destiny and feeling better than ever.
It's simple. I meet you where you are now, with a focus on adding in more of the good stuff. Who can argue against eating vegetables and fruit? Now include rice, oats, lentils, beans, sweet potatoes, white potatoes, nuts, seeds, and yes...whole grain pasta and bread. The combinations are endless. This program focuses on taking small steps toward epic outcomes. We are about eating as close to nature as possible and avoiding the processed products filled with oil, sugar, salt and chemicals. This new eating style has a learning curve, so together we find strategies to navigate sticky issues like travel and social situations. Managing stress and food cravings, physical activity, meditation, self-care and time management are all addressed in the PlantPath Wellness program. Want to end unwanted food binges? Want to make changes in your health and fitness? Changes happen when we change our behaviors, one at a time. Not a diet, but a new way of living your life.
Being a certified fitness instructor for 20 years, I recognized the importance of regular physical activity for the body and mind. Sweating is a gift we give ourselves and will forever be a priority in my life. But what about food and its role in keeping the body healthy and strong?
I earned my certification in Plant Based Nutrition through eCornell's T. Colin Campbell Center for Nutrition Studies. I learned about much more than food, but the food system and its effects on human health, animal welfare, and our environment.
Completing a year-long Health Coach training program at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, I am the proud recipient of IIN's Leadership in Health Coaching Award. This comprehensive education has equipped me to help clients reach their health goals by making dietary and lifestyle adjustments using holistic practices and with a focus on preventative care. Using innovative coaching methods, I provide my clients ongoing support, education, and serve as their accountability partner.
In 2018 I completed a five-month health coach training with WellStart Health, Inc. under the direction of Howard Jacobson, PhD. This small-group interactive program focused on behavior change and habit formation. Introducing these strategies has proven to be a game changer for clients and for my practice. Not a therapeutic model, but an outcome-oriented approach to making change.
